Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about IronKernel — our platform, modules, getting started, and more.

Company Basics

What is IronKernel?
IronKernel is an all-in-one industrial operating system for trucking, logistics, and industrial operations. It replaces disconnected tools with one platform that includes CRM, TMS, CMMS, Crew management, YMS, a driver mobile app, IoT ingestion, operations control, and vibration analysis — all sharing the same data in real time.
Where is IronKernel based?
IronKernel LLC is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
How do I contact IronKernel?
You can reach us at hello@ironkernel.io or call 423-800-5666. You can also submit a request through the contact form at ironkernel.io/contact.
What industries does IronKernel serve?
We serve for-hire carriers, private fleet operations, shippers, 3PLs, and industrial/manufacturing operations — any team that manages physical assets, vehicles, drivers, and facilities.

Products & Modules

What modules are included in IronKernel?

IronKernel has 10 integrated modules:

  • CRM — Execution-aware sales tied to live fleet capacity
  • TMS — Transportation management with full EDI suite
  • CMMS — Industrial asset management with vibration-integrated maintenance
  • Crew — Personnel readiness, DQ files, and digital onboarding
  • YMS — Yard and dock management with real-time trailer tracking
  • Pilot — Driver mobile app with offline-first workflows
  • TelePulse — IoT data ingestion and anomaly detection
  • Tower — Unified operations control and monitoring
  • AxialOps — Professional-grade vibration and reliability analysis
  • AxialSim — Equipment simulation and analyst certification
Do I have to buy all 10 modules?
Every tier includes access to all 10 modules — there are no product bundles or feature gates. You pay based on how much you use, not which modules you enable. Start using the modules most relevant to your operation and expand naturally as your needs grow.
How is IronKernel different from using separate TMS, CMMS, and YMS tools?
With separate tools, data lives in silos — your sales team doesn't see fleet capacity, dispatch doesn't see maintenance status, and your yard is invisible to your TMS. IronKernel eliminates that lag because every module shares contracts, data context, and runtime from the start. One shared reality, not ten synced databases.

Getting Started

How do I request a demo?
Visit ironkernel.io/contact or call us at 423-800-5666. We'll schedule a walkthrough tailored to your operation. You can also email hello@ironkernel.io.
What does the onboarding process look like?
  • Discovery call to understand your current operations and pain points
  • Module selection based on your needs and priorities
  • Pilot environment setup with your data and configuration
  • Data migration and team training with hands-on support
  • Smooth go-live with ongoing assistance
Is there a free trial?

Yes. IronKernel offers a free trial with access to every product and feature. Your trial environment comes pre-loaded with simulated data so you experience a living platform from day one:

  • Trucks moving on maps with real-time GPS
  • Loads flowing through TMS with EDI events
  • Work orders and PM schedules active in CMMS
  • Yard activity with gate check-ins and dock appointments

You can also create your own real data alongside the simulation at any time.

How long does implementation typically take?
This depends on your scope — a single-module deployment like YMS can be live in weeks, while a full-platform rollout across TMS, CMMS, Crew, and YMS is typically planned in phases. We'll provide a timeline during discovery.

Pricing

How does IronKernel pricing work?

IronKernel's success is built on our customers' success — so we price accordingly:

  • Every tier includes every product — no feature gates or bundle lock-in
  • You pay based on what you actually use: loads moved, assets tracked, drivers active
  • Higher tiers reward scale with more credits and lower per-unit costs

We only win when you're moving more freight, maintaining more assets, and running a bigger operation.

What are the pricing tiers?

Starter — For small carriers and single-site operations. All products, generous monthly credits, and simple overage rates.

  • Growth — For mid-size fleets and multi-site operations. Higher credit allowances, lower per-unit costs, SSO, and advanced analytics.
  • Enterprise — Custom pricing with negotiated volume discounts, committed-use savings, dedicated support, and SLA.

What counts as usage?

Usage tracks the operational activity that matters to your business:

  • Completed loads (TMS)
  • Tracked assets (CMMS)
  • Active drivers per month (Pilot)
  • Yard moves (YMS)
  • Ingested telematics events (TelePulse)
  • Closed work orders (CMMS)

Each tier includes a monthly credit allowance across these meters. Tower and AxialSim are free in every tier because they drive adoption and readiness.

Why usage-based instead of per-seat or per-module?
  • Per-seat pricing penalizes you for giving more people visibility
  • Per-module pricing forces you to choose which parts of your operation to leave in the dark

Usage-based pricing means everyone on your team gets access to everything, and your cost scales with operational throughput — not headcount or feature checklists.

What happens when I convert from a trial to a paid plan?

Conversion is seamless — same URL, same login, zero re-onboarding:

  • Keep your simulation data for reference, or start fresh with a clean slate
  • User accounts, roles, and any real data you created are always preserved
  • Pick a tier, we start counting credits, and you're live

Technical & Security

Is IronKernel cloud-based?
Yes. IronKernel is a cloud-native platform accessible from any modern web browser. The Pilot mobile app is available for drivers in the field.
How does IronKernel handle data security?
IronKernel uses zero-trust security. Every API call is tenant-scoped and RBAC-enforced. Data isolation is guaranteed at the platform level. Each customer's data is completely separated from others.
Does IronKernel work with tools my team already uses?

Every IronKernel module works out of the box — but if your team already relies on specific tools, you have the option to connect them:

  • ELD & telematics: Samsara, Motive, Geotab
  • Load boards: DAT, Truckstop
  • CRM: Salesforce, HubSpot
  • Recruiting: TenStreet, DriverReach
  • Fuel cards, accounting, factoring, toll management, and more

Visit our integrations page for the full list. Nothing is required — these are options for teams that want to keep using tools they've already invested in.

Does the driver app work offline?
Yes. Pilot is built offline-first, so drivers can complete assignments, inspections, and compliance tasks without connectivity. Data syncs automatically when they're back online.

Industry-Specific

Does IronKernel support DOT compliance?

Yes. Compliance is woven across multiple modules:

  • Crew — DQ file management, certification tracking, and Ready-to-Roll safety scoring
  • CMMS — DOT inspection workflows and automated recall alerts

Dispatchers see a driver's compliance status before assignment, so non-compliant drivers are never dispatched.

Can IronKernel help with detention tracking?
Absolutely. The YMS module tracks trailer detention in real time and integrates with TMS for billing. We also turn detention data into operational insights to help reduce it.
Does IronKernel handle DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports)?
Yes. Drivers can complete digital pre-trip and post-trip inspections through the Pilot mobile app, and defects flow directly into the CMMS for work order creation.
What about vibration analysis and predictive maintenance?
  • AxialOps — Professional-grade spectral analysis with ISO 10816 compliance, automated fault detection, and route-based data collection
  • TelePulse — Ingests vibration sensor data in real time and triggers CMMS work orders automatically when anomalies are detected
  • AxialSim — Simulate failure modes and certify analysts on virtualized equipment before they encounter faults in the field
